In short — An indoor LED screen is made for sheltered spaces and is often viewed up close, so it favours a fine pixel pitch. An outdoor LED screen faces sun, rain and heat: it is weatherproof, much brighter and usually viewed from further away. The right choice depends on the location’s real exposure, not just on being "inside" or "outside".
The real question: what will the screen be exposed to?
We speak of "indoor" and "outdoor" screens, but the line is about exposure. A screen under a canopy, in a hall open to the outside or behind a south-facing window is neither fully indoor nor fully outdoor. Before choosing, describe the location precisely: direct sun or not, possible rain, dust, temperature, audience distance.
What makes an indoor screen
- Finer pixel pitch: viewers are often close (lobby, showroom, meeting room), so the image must stay sharp up close.
- Brightness suited to indoor lighting: an overly bright screen tires the eyes.
- Lighter construction, with no weatherproofing constraints.
See our indoor LED screen page.
What makes an outdoor screen
- Weatherproof cabinets against rain and dust.
- High brightness to stay readable in full sun.
- Heat management: ventilation and design suited to Moroccan summers.
- Generally wider pitch, since viewers are further away.
- Supporting structure sized for wind and weight.

Edge cases
Shop window: the screen is inside but faces the street. It must be bright enough to beat reflections and daylight; a high-brightness indoor screen is often chosen.
Open hall or canopy: sheltered from direct rain but exposed to humidity, dust and temperature swings. An outdoor or semi-outdoor version is often safer.
Outdoor event: the screen is mounted for a few days on a structure and must withstand outdoor conditions throughout.
Quick decision table
| Situation | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Lobby, showroom, conference room | Indoor, fine pitch |
| Street-facing shop window | High-brightness indoor |
| Canopy, open hall, covered car park | Outdoor or semi-outdoor |
| Facade, rooftop, pole, school courtyard | Outdoor |
| Outdoor event | Outdoor on a structure |
What about budget?
Outdoor screens add weatherproofing, brightness and structure; indoor screens can be costly per square metre if the pitch is very fine. Our article LED screen prices in Morocco details these items. In every case, Electroline surveys the location before recommending a configuration.
