Indoor vs outdoor LED screens: what is the difference?
The difference lies in the environment. An indoor screen is designed for sheltered spaces and can have a finer pixel pitch for a sharp image up close. An outdoor screen is built for the open air: weatherproof cabinets, higher brightness to stay readable in sunlight, resistance to heat, dust and rain.
Pixel pitch, written "P" followed by a number, is the distance in millimetres between the centres of two neighbouring pixels. A P3 screen has pixels 3 mm apart, a P10 screen 10 mm apart. The smaller the pitch, the sharper the image up close, and the more LEDs per square metre.
A common rule of thumb in the trade puts the minimum comfortable viewing distance, in metres, at roughly the pitch value in millimetres: a P4 is comfortably viewed from about four metres. This is only indicative — content size, message type and viewing angle also matter.
Electroline recommends the right pitch after measuring the real distance between the screen and your audience. A finer pitch than needed raises the budget with no visible benefit.
How much does a giant LED screen cost in Morocco?
